It is with profound sadness that the family of Gloria Walko, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, announce that she passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, after a sudden illness at the age of 94 years.
Gloria faithfully embodied unconditional love throughout her life and was beloved by her family and friends. Her joy of life and generosity of spirit enriched our lives immeasurably.
Gloria was an exemplary employee at the Target Superstore South, where she became scores of customers’ favorite cashier. Gloria wholeheartedly appreciated her friends, co-workers, and regular customers.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, John Walko; daughter, Gloria Davidson; her many siblings; and her parents, Dusan and Marija Puskarovich.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, her granddaughter Lauren Stobb (Matt); her grandson Matthew Davidson (Haley); her son-in-law David Davidson; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held on February 8th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 310 Fifth St SE in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gloria’s name to the Iowa Humane Alliance, 6540 6th St SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
The family also wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care team at St. Luke’s Hospital for their care and compassion.
