Wilmer Dean Evans was born September 13, 1936, at home near South English, Iowa, the son of Rachel May Evans. He graduated from North English High School in 1954. While in high school Dean met the love of his life Zona Marvis Downing and they were united in marriage on July 29, 1956, at the South English Baptist Church. Dean worked at Amana Refrigeration painting refrigerators and over 50 years at Universal Climate Control. Dean was a former member of the South English Fire Department. He enjoyed dancing, Thursday night bowling, reading, working on cars, farming, and visiting & having a beer with friends and family. Dean died on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the English Valleys Care Center at the age of 88 years.

He is survived by his wife Zona of South English; three children, Cheryl (Forrest) Trimble of Cedar Rapids, Carmen Evans of North English and Lyle (Dee) Evans of South English; four grandchildren, Aaron (Dani) Osweiler of Webster, Skylar (Tara Grimm) of North English, Emily (Stephen) Clarahan of South English and Brandon (Kailyn) Eagle of Harper’s Ferry; and five great-grandchildren, Bailey & Brayden Shifflet, Landon Clarahan and Tyson & Connor Osweiler. He was preceded by his mother Rachel, a son Larry Dean Evans and grandson Heath Allen Evans.
