Darlene J. Kenison, age 93, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Darlene was born on January 15, 1932, in Anthon, IA. She was the daughter of the late Ronald and Faye (Harman) Ripple. On January 27, 1951, Darlene married the love of her life, Jack Kenison, in Arnold’s Park, IA. She worked as a clerk at Fisher Controls for many years. In her younger years, Darlene and Jack loved to travel looking at lighthouses. She loved to shop, roller skate, do crafts, paint, draw, make candles, and did the family genealogy for many years. Darlene had a deep love for all animals; especially dogs and cats.
Those left to cherish Darlene’s memory is her husband Jack, of Cedar Rapids, IA; her son, Bruce Kenison of Cedar Rapids, IA; her grandchildren, Jami (Harold) Jones, of Cedar Rapids, Kelli Kenison, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Margie (Michael) Fleming, of California; her great-grandchildren, Nora and Edie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Charles Kenison, and a sister, Corrine Stevenson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of Mercy.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Hospice of Mercy for all the love and support they showed Darlene while she was in their care.
