Leslie Anne Heefner went home to be with her savior Jesus on January 24, 2025 in Norman, OK after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by family and passed peacefully. She was born November 3, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Richard and Lois Marks.
She was a graduate of Trinity Lutheran School and Thomas Jefferson Senior High School Cedar Rapids, IA, Class of 1965. She also took courses at Coe College Cedar Rapids, IA and Johnson County Community College Overland Park, KS.
She worked in health care, education, real estate and business management. She also spent several years as an at-home mom. Her titles included: Ward Clerk, Teacher’s Aide, Sales Associate, Substitute Teacher, Library Aide, Children’s Book Store Manager and Mom. She retired in 1994.
She was married to Jeffrey Allen Heefner June 30, 1967. They had 2 children: Timothy Allen Heefner of Norman, OK, married to Stephanie Shirley Heefner and Cara Marie Barnes of Blanchard, OK, married to Brady Barnes. They have 6 grandchildren, Abby Heefner, Grace Heefner, Ben Heefner, Cameron Barnes, Cassidy Barnes and Callen Barnes.
Leslie was a member of the Blanchard Methodist Church and active in both her church and community. She was a member of the Blanchard Methodist Women and the Book Buzz book club; and Co-Leader of the local chapter of the Stephen Ministry.
She has traveled to all 50 US states and lived in IOWA, Minnesota, Texas, Virginia, Kansas and Oklahoma.
She loved to fish, bowl, play cards, spend time with family and friends, travel and read.
She is survived by husband of 57 years Jeff Heefner of Blanchard, OK, son Tim Heefner and wife Stephanie of Norman, OK, daughter Cara Marie Barnes and husband Brady Barnes of Blanchard, OK, grandchildren Abby, Grace and Ben Heefner, Cameron, Cassidy and Callen Barnes, brothers Bruce Marks and wife Ann of Las Cruces, NM, Dennis Marks and wife Karen of Lebanon, MO and Terry Marks of Perryville, MO; brother-in-law David Heefner and wife Tammye of New Braunfels, TX, sister-in-law Julie Clarke of Waterloo, IA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Lois Marks, sister-in-law Sue Marks and brother-in-law Jim Clarke.
She was the epitome of humility and kindness and always a loving and sharing person. She touched and made a difference in many lives, and will be missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace, sweet and loving angel.
