A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Monday, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with Fr. Douglas Loecke officiating. Graveside services will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to visit from 9:00-11:00 AM on Monday morning at the church.
Aggie was born on November 7, 1934, in Imogene, Iowa, to Edward and Dorothy Gutschenritter. She graduated from Colburg High School in 1952, where she excelled at basketball. After high school, Aggie attended business school and worked at Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. On August 9, 1958, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Robson, in Omaha. Following their marriage, Aggie and Bill moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they established his medical practice. The couple was blessed with five children and fortunate to build enduring friendships with wonderful people that stood the test of time.
Once her children were in school, Aggie worked at Seifert’s Clothing Store and later as a secretary in Bill’s office. She had a remarkable sense of style and took great joy in helping her husband and others find clothes that made them look and feel their best. Bill passed away in 2016.
Aggie is survived by her children: John (Christine), Joe (Traci), Carrie (Dennis) Richard, Carmen (Nick) Banwart, and J.J. (Heather); 19 grandchildren: Zachary, Danielle, William, Makenzie, Morgan, Kayla, Dylan, Levi, Ben, Alex, Courtney, Brady, Mallory, Riley, Ellie Grace, Shae, Kode, Alex and Emma; 17 great-grandchildren; eight siblings; Grace Albers, Carolyn Peterson, Martin Gutschenritter, Kay Loos, Judy Eades, Joan Schwichtenberg, James Gutschenritter, Donna Hoover; sister-in-law; Rachel Wear; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents, Ed and Dorothy; her in-laws, Lawrence and June Robson; brother Mike, a brother and two sisters who passed away as young children; Daniel, Patricia and Dorothy; brothers-in-law, Gerald Albers, Dr. Roger Peterson and David Wear.
Aggie was a devoted Catholic whose unwavering faith was evident in her daily attendance at Mass and her service to others. Raised in a large family, she cherished the values of togetherness and devotion to her faith, instilling them in her own family. A talented cook and gracious hostess, Aggie’s home was filled with joy, laughter, meaningful conversations, and delicious food. Aggie had an unending love for her grandchildren, always attending their sporting events and cheering them on from the sidelines. She took great pride in making their favorite meals for their birthdays and was always willing to lend a listening ear, offering guidance and support. Her deep affection for them created bonds that will be treasured forever.
Aggie enjoyed a vibrant and fulfilling life. Her and Bill raised thoroughbred horses, attended the horse races, played tennis, cooked, traveled, and volunteered at church. A passionate sports fan, she especially loved cheering on the Creighton Bluejays and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Her warmth, generosity, and radiant spirit touched everyone she met, leaving a legacy of love and kindness that will endure through her family and friends.
The family would like to send their deepest appreciation to Cottage Grove, and St. Croix Hospice for the exceptional care and support given to Aggie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed St. Croix Hospice House.
