Jerald L. “Jerry” Schumacher, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away, January 19, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 PM, Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Cobble Hill, 219 2nd St. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Jerry was born on January 22, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Walter and Kathryn (Otting) Schumacher. Jerry graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1977. He had worked as a carpenter and in construction. Jerry loved entertaining his family and friends. He will be remembered for his jokes, stories and kindhearted ways. He enjoyed camping and watching the Green Bay Packers with Jane, trips to Vegas with his best friend and brother Jeff and son Josh. He loved music and always had it playing. He passed that love of music on to his three children. Jerry was a talented wood worker and craftsman. Many family and friends are blessed to have beautiful custom items built by him, from decks and porches to furniture.
Survivors include his fiancée, Jane Roushdi of Cedar Rapids; children, Josh (Amanda) Schumacher of Cedar Rapids and Tanja (Matt) Tirado of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Anthony Schumacher, Jacob Schumacher, Zakkary Halstead, and Liam Huston; and siblings; Judy Wilson, Jeff (Kathy) Schumacher, Jeannie (Jim Elliott) Schumacher, and Joan Schumacher. Jerry is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with Bella, his beloved dog.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Bethany Schumacher, sons, Matthew Schumacher and Anthony Philip Schumacher; brothers, Jack Schumacher, Jim Schumacher, Joel Schumacher, and Jan Schumacher; brother-in-law, Don Wilson; and sister-in-law, Diane Schumacher.
