Marilyn Ann Melsha, 86, of Swisher, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at The Windmill Manor in Coralville. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2025, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery, Swisher.
Marilyn was born on July 23, 1938, in Monticello, the daughter of Vincent and Alice (McDermott) Donovan. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1956. Marilyn was united in marriage to Lumir David Melsha on October 3, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids for many years. Marilyn enjoyed camping, and most of all spending time with her family.
Marilyn is survived by children Doug (Heidi) Melsha, Mike (Shar) Melsha and Dean (Kris) Melsha; grandchildren AJ and Travis Melsha, Ben (Loryn) and Alex Richard and Kyle Saulsbury; daughter-in-law Lorraine Melsha; her sister Janet (Kenny) Kaliban; sisters-in-law Ginger Serbousek and Linda Melsha; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Lumir Melsha; her son Joe Melsha; her brothers Denis Donovan, Dean Donovan and Donald Donovan (passed away earlier on January 21, 2025), her sister-in-law Mary Anne Donovan, brothers-in-law Bruce Melsha and Richard Serbousek, father and mother-in-law Harold and Lilyan Sirowy, and father-in-law Joseph “Jike” Melsha.
