Reverend David Hinman, 73, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on Monday January 20, 2025.
David Gerald Hinman was born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 3, 1951 to Gerald and Gladys Hinman. He married Jeannette Askelson on August 31, 1974 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. They resided in Lisbon with their three daughters. David was a popular broadcaster for WMT Radio in Cedar Rapids.
In 1990, he entered Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and was ordained as a minister in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 1994. He served parishes in Elmore, Minnesota and Bradenton, Florida.
David had tremendous faith in God, and lived his life demonstrating that faith. He loved to teach Bible study, to lead worship services, and to provide counsel to congregants. He had a great passion for literature, art, history, and music. David loved his family, and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his powerful sermons, funny stories, and his compassion for others.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jeannette; daughters Kelly (Jon) Pruse, Holly Hinman (Erik Swenson), and Lindsay (Peter) Marcy; grandchildren Kai, Joseph, and Abigail Pruse; Louisa and Poppy Swenson; and Gilbert Marcy; his brother Richard Anderson, and sister Gail (Mike) Drake.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother (Ted Anderson).
The funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Parrish, Florida, on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
