Ray Arthur Comried, 83, of Marion, formerly of Central City, Iowa, passed away peacefully January 17, 2025, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 25, 2025, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will follow the funeral service and take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ray was born August 14, 1941, to Raymond and Maxine (Phillips) Comried in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School with the Class of 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy. He married Kay Kahler on January 26, 1963, in Cedar Rapids. He began working at Rockwell Collins. He then became the business owner of Ebeling’s TV for over 30 years and later worked at Goss for 10 years until he retired in 2001.
He enjoyed bowling, playing slow pitch softball, cheering on the Hawkeyes, and taking his ’41 Lincoln Coupe to car shows. He loved spending time with his family where they would go on family vacations, boating, and attending his grandchildren’s events.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Kay Comried; children, Lonnie (John) Comried, Barry (Jill) Comried, and Rodney (Annette) Comried; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Dan) VanderPloeg, Jordan (Jenny) Comried, Madison (Matt Pierson) Comried, Kayla (Louis Hill) Comried, and Remington (Evan Hall) Comried; great-grandchildren, Jaci Comried, Kaysen Pierson, Kane Pierson, and one on the way; siblings, Geneva Killian, Robin (Larry) Hanover, and Chuck (Mary) Comried.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Doug Comried and Sandra Boots.
