Patricia (Pat) Reed, 96 of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, Iowa from respiratory complications.
Pat was born November 13, 1928, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Adelia (Lindeken) and Ronald Gillen. Pat attended Mount Mercy Academy, graduating in 1947. On January 7, 1955, Pat was united in marriage to Kenneth Reed at Cedar Rapids. She worked as an assembly operator for Rockwell Collins for 25 years before her retirement in 1990.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Reed; son-in-law, Jack Kelly, 3 grandchildren, Chrissi (Frank) Chester, Jasen (Michelle) Westcott and Steve (Jamie) Kelly, 5 great-grandchildren; Thomas Andrews (Crystal), Alyssa Andrews (Robert), Cody Westcott, Bryce Westcott and Jordyn Kelly as well as 3 great-great-grandchildren, Brandon, Roman and Levi, special neighbor and friend Susan Lafler and her neighbor pets Sassy, Sunny, and Tessa.
Pat did extensive volunteer work after retiring, she enjoyed Silver Sneakers at the YMCA, weekly dinners, and monthly trips to the casinos with her friends and fellow retirees. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and Quote of Cedar Rapids, Inc. Pat was an avid Hawkeye football and basketball fan. She loved doing crafts with her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ronald and Adelia Gillen; husband, Kenneth Reed; daughter, Connie Kelly; and siblings Bob, Jerry, Tom, Dolores, and Jeanie.
Pat will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held on May 16, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where visitation begins at 10:00 AM, with a service to follow at 11:00 AM.
