Gregory Magnus Brecht died Monday, January 13, 2025, in Cedar Rapids. Private services will be held at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Mound Cemetery, Benton County.
Gregory was born on February 26, 1934 in Sumner Township, Iowa County, the son of Charles and Mae (Corbin) Brecht. He married Cleo F. Gorsh at Trinity United Church of Christ in Sumner Township on October 8, 1967. Gregory was a farmer.
Gregory is survived by his daughter, Kathryn (Eugene) Gansemer; son, Ray (Julia) Brecht; four grandchildren, Adam, Luke, and Rachel Gansemer, and Yvonne Brecht; sisters-in-law, Mary Brecht, Dorothy (Larry) Wade and Lisa Gorsh; and four nieces and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo; sister, Margaret Brecht; brother, Corbin Brecht; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen (Arnold “Butch”) Baetsle, Jr. and Merlin Gorsh; and two nephews.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
