Dorothy Ann Dircks, age 90 of Clarence, passed away on Tuesday January 7, 2025 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Clarence on Monday January 13 at 10:30 a.m with Janet Shotwell officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m until service time at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Dorothy was born April 3, 1934 in Springville, Iowa to Thomas and Elsie (Spalding) McClelland. She married Dewey Dircks on February 11, 1967 in Ely. He passed away January 20, 2014.
Survivors include her son Randy (Cindy) of Cedar Rapids and daughter Jolene (Josh) Grau of Clarence; grandchildren Dallas Dircks and Dircks Grau; sister Connie Chrisman of Center Point; sister-in-law Joyce Dircks of Clarence and brother-in-law Chris Chrisman of Center Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and brother-in-law John Dircks.
Dorothy was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. John’s Church, Lend-A-Hand, and loved being a past member of the Golden Ringers bell choir. She graduated from Newhall High School then went on to office work for Cedar Rapids Engineering and secretarial work for Altorfer and Nissen Trampoline before becoming a farmwife. Dorothy truly loved the social aspect of her life!
