Janice Marlene Jansa, 88, of Ely, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025, at her home in Ely. As per Janice’s wishes private family services will be held. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre will be assisting the family at this time.
Janice was born on October 11, 1936, in Iowa Falls, the daughter of Richard Orrie and Edith Nora (Bilyeu) Slattenow. She attended Ellsworth Community College where she obtained her teaching certificate. She taught school in Walnut and Cosgrove and eventually moved on to work as a successful television and electronics sales associate for Sears Roebuck and Company. In her spare time, she thoroughly enjoyed watching NBA basketball (and was a huge fan of Steph Curry) and her precious Hallmark mystery movies. Janice will be remembered as quite particular as to how all things should be but also very loyal to her family.
Janice is survived by her son Dick (Angie) Jansa, daughter Deb (Jeff) Schmidt, five grandchildren Michael Schmidt (Amy Mahoney), Christopher (Kari) Schmidt, Matthew (Stephanie) Jansa, Robert (Kate) Jansa and Katie (Kyle) Burlage, and eight great-grandchildren, Samuel, Emersyn, Eleanor, Lincoln, Berkeley, Dawson, Beckett and Brynnlee; her sister Clarice (Darrel) Thomsen; as well as her nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
