Dolores T. Wright, 98, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at her home. Visitation will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids with the Funeral Service to immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Dolores was born January 20, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Mario and Linda (Mazzarola) DeSantis. She graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago. Dolores was united in marriage to James C. Wright at St. Peter’s Church in Chicago on August 12, 1950. They were married for 58 years before James’ passing in 2008. She worked as a secretary for Link Belt, Co. until she left to become a stay-at-home mom. Dolores enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together, watching sports and most of all just spending time with her family. She loved to cook her mom's old recipes dating back to prior generations in Italy. Family gatherings were very special to her, always remembered and still talked about by all.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Eileen) Wright of Tinley Park, Illinois, Linda (Todd) Ginther of Cedar Rapids, and William (Henrietta) Wright of Calumet City, Illinois; grandchildren, James (Lucy), Patrick (Anna), Erica (Michal), Dina (Jake), Patrick, Andrew, Stephanie (Lucas), Michael (Rebecca), William “Trey”, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Liam, Zoe, Carter, Landon, Aiden, Harper, Maya, Eleanor, and Matthew.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, James Wright; parents; twin sister, Violet Heidinger; and brother, Donato DeSantis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to members of St. Luke’s Hospice for their loving and compassionate care given to Dolores.
