Jeannette Archer Simons passed away quietly in her sleep on December 25th, 2024. She and her husband Bob Simons were married for 46 years.
Jeannette is survived by her husband Bob, her father, John Archer, her two sisters, Jonna Kilbourne, Jenifer Archer, and her brother, Jordan Archer; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeannette spent her life doing things that changed people’s lives. She received her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Iowa and her master’s degree in business from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. Jeannette was a Girl Scout leader and the Executive Director for Girl Scout Councils in Iowa, Florida, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. She worked with the Department of Justice and developed a unique nationally recognized Girl Scout program for girls with incarcerated mothers called Girls Behind Bars and allowed the Scouts to have Girl Scout Meetings and visit with their mothers in prison. Jeannette later became Executive Director for a homeless shelter in Connecticut and a substance abuse facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the owner of a business consulting company that helped Non-Profit agencies in fundraising and financial stability. In all these endeavors she touched many lives.
