Peter B. Collette, age 73 of rural Solon, died Monday, December 23, 2024.
A time for family and friends to gather to celebrate Peter’s life will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 1 to 3 pm with remarks shared beginning at 3 pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to Hospice of Mercy (315 18th Avenue, Hiawatha, IA 52233) or Iowa FFA (Future Farmers of America) 1055 SW Prairie Trail Pkwy, Ankeny, IA 50023. Peter Beaucie Collette was born July 19, 1951, in Kankakee, IL the son of Beaucie and Dorothy (Trost) Collette. He attended seminary school and following graduation from Central High School in Chebanse, IL he then attended Western Illinois University, receiving his Bachelor’s degrees in political science and psychology. Moving to Iowa City, Peter worked as a meatcutter for the former Eagles Foods for over 20 years. He was also a tax preparer for many years and crop adjuster/field inspector for several years. But nothing was more important than being married to the love of his life, Ann. He and the former Ann Bosserman was married on July 7, 1979. The couple in time bought “The Farm” north of Iowa City and he became Farmer Pete!
His family includes his wife, Ann; his siblings, Joanne Coriell, Barb Buehler and Mark Collette (Bow); and Ann’s siblings, Bud Bosserman, Dave Bosserman (Julie), Tom Bosserman and Tim Bosserman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Beth Lamie, Patricia Collette and Tom Collette.
A very special thanks to our neighbors, the Harapat family and Joe Breza and all our friends who have reached out to help. Also thanks to neighbors Scott, Jim, Ryan and Tim during our hour of need.
