CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids woman is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond at the Linn County Jail on charges related to an armed robbery this summer of a Hiawatha gas station and liquor store.
Emily Delores Edgeton, 24, was charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.
According a criminal complaint, Edgeton drove two men to Quick Mart Liquor & Wine at 655 Robins Rd. in Hiawatha on June 3. Police say the two men robbed an employee at gunpoint. One of the men told the employee to open the cash register while the other checked shelves below the register where money is hidden, the complaint states.
The two, who are not identified in the criminal complaint, stole approximately $1,400 in cash, according to Hiawatha police.
The robbery was reportedly captured on video surveillance. Edgeton’s vehicle was caught on surveillance, and she was later pulled over in the vehicle that night by Cedar Rapids police. Officers found messages on Edgeton’s phone between her and one of the men accused of committing the robbery, including a message stating she had been pulled over and covered for him, according to the criminal complaint.
“There were also searches on her phone after the robbery about the robbery and being a driver in a robbery,” the complaint states.
Edgeton was arrested Sunday and made her first appearance in court Monday. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 2 in Linn County District Court.
