Herbert “Herb” T. Clemen, 88, of Dyersville, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Accura HealthCare, in Cascade, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 3 – 7 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Military service will commence at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 - 10 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral mass.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #137. Rev. Chris Podhajsky will officiate.
Herb was born October 29, 1936 in Luxemburg, Iowa, son of Albin and Melinda (Zewen) Clemen. He married Mary Ann Werner on September 1, 1959, in Worthington, Iowa. They celebrated 65 years in 2024.
Herb served in the US Army from 1956 – 1958 and was stationed in Korea as a clerk typist. He worked for Ed Wedewer Contractors, Home Appliance, and Spoden Construction. After retirement, he continued carpentry and repair jobs for members of the community and Ideal Decorating. He was diligent in his craft and cared deeply about his service. Herb was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed traveling with Mary Ann and family.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann, children: Linda (Dale) Boeckenstedt, of Petersburg; Steve (Julie) Clemen, of Dakota, Ill.; Brian (Katie) Clemen, of Hiawatha; Sandy (Randy) Jaeger, of Lisbon; and Lisa (Bill) Stevenson, of Mount Vernon; grandchildren: Angie and Adam Boeckenstedt, Solomon Clemen, Jackie (Dalton) Nichols, Allison (Michael) Thomsen, and Stacey Jaeger, Emma, Isaac and William Stevenson; great-granddaughters: Dawsyn and Lennyn Nichols; siblings: Doris (Lenny) LeConte, Dennis (Valerie) Clemen, Ron (Diane) Clemen; in-laws: Jan Clemen, and Harold (Kathy) Werner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, George and Emilie Werner; siblings: JoAnn (Wayne) Recker, Ken Clemen; and sister-in-law, Lillian (Ralph) Nurre.
