Center Point man dies in single-vehicle crash Thursday
The driver was the only occupant in the truck

One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Center Point Thursday afternoon.
A Toyota truck went off the road on Franklin Street, just south of Maiden Street in Center Point at 2:52 p.m., according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. The truck came to rest in a wooded area.
The driver — identified as Mark Anthony Brecht, 42, of Center Point — was the only occupant in the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The release states Brecht was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. Responders included Linn County Sheriff’s Rescue and the Center Point Ambulance and Fire departments.
