Charles R. Corkery, 85, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017,
at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
He was born July 16, 1932, in Wadena, Iowa, the son of William and Nica (Fay) Corkery. Charles was raised and educated in the area, and graduated from Wadena Independent School. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.
On July 26, 1958, Charles was united in marriage to Ila Lee Totman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Volga. Four children were blessed to this union. Charles was employed by Rockwell Collins for 32 years and retired in 1987.
Charles loved fishing, hunting and his grandchildren. He enjoyed working in the garage, inventing things.
Survivors include four children, Michael (Cathy) Corkery, Kathy Corkery, Mark (Lori) Corkery and Kim Corkery, all of Manchester; three grandchildren, Anna (Matt) Drees, Gabrielle Corkery and Michaela Corkery; four stepgrandchildren, April Saunders, Amanda Saunders, Greg Saunders and Ethan (Kayleen Caldwell) Saunders; two great-grandchildren, Dane and Archer Drees; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Brandon and Logan Keck and Macy Deutmeyer; and four brothers, Paul (Beverley) of Dysart, Steven (Kathy) of Wadena, Ellis of Lisbon and Tim of West Union.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Lee, on March 28, 2015; four sisters, Jane Wheeler, Barb Vincent, Joanne Vontalge and Jeanne Singer; and two brothers, William and Gregory.
