Virginia J. Howe, 98, of Marion, Iowa passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14th, 2024.
She was born on May 10th, 1926 in Walbeek, Iowa to Clarence and Gertrude (Glass) Knapp. She was married to Don Howe in Marion, Iowa in 1946. Virginia started working at Collins Radio at the age of 16. She then married and stayed home to raise her children. She was a sales associate at Armstrong’s department store for many years until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marion.
Left to cherish her memory include her children Barbara (George Lord) Bryan and David (Carlene) Howe, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Howe, former husband Don Howe, her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to niece Diana Smith and daughter-in-law Carlene Howe for their unending care in her latter years. They would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Garnett Place for their exceptional care and friendship.
A celebration of life for Virginia will be scheduled for a later date.
