Juliane Wilhemina Steinert, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of Juliane's life will take place at a later date.
Juliane was born June 13, 1924, in Siegburg, Germany, the daughter of August and Elsa (Schierenbeck) Huhn. She was a graduate of Royal College of Nursing in London, England. Juliane formerly was employed as a private secretary for a family who owned a silver company in England. She traveled with the family and was always at the wife's side before moving to Canada, where Juliane met her future husband, Kurt Paul Steinert. They were united in marriage in Toronto, Canada, in 1954. Juliane enjoyed crocheting, needlework and playing games with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Audrey Steinert of Cedar Rapids, Arlene (Daryl) Lang of Springville and Amy (Martin) Williamson of Alvin, Texas; daughter-in-law, Brenda Steinert of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren, John Yucel of Cedar Rapids, Suzanne Yucel of Des Moines, Jeff (Nielie) Schaeffer of Marion, Erin Schaeffer of Springville, Emily Lang of Springville, Samantha Lang of Fort Madison, Matthew Lang of Springville, Jessica and Nicole Williamson, both of Alvin, Texas, Danielle Williamson of Houston, Texas, Chad Steinert of Cedar Rapids and Shawn Blauer of Cedar Rapids; and seven great-grandchildren, Kadie, Madison and Lucas Schaeffer, Julianna Williamson and Layla, Adam and Evan Steinert.
Juliane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kurt Steinert; two sons, Adam Steinert and Andrew Steinert; and two brothers, Reinhold and Ernst-Guenther Huhn.
