Jean was born Dec. 13, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of George and Dorothy (Louhier) Stephenson. She was united in marriage to Daniel E. Castleberry on Dec. 31, 1952, in Hamilton, Ohio. Jean was a homemaker who enjoyed hand quilting and sewing. She was a seamstress for the Cedar Rapids Paramount Theater for many years. Jean was an avid reader and her joy of cooking complemented her impeccable hostess skills. She was devoted to adolescent and teenage youth, whether it was teaching Sunday school or opening up her home for the kids to have a place to hang out. The couple loved to travel and would visit family all over the United States and internationally.

Castleberry of Robins, Iowa; children, Vickie (Frank) Edwards of Ankeny, Iowa, Cindy (Kurt) Anderson of Winterset, Iowa, Connie (David) Ostroot of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Douglas (Erinn) Castleberry of Carlisle, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
