Karl Smith, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, surrounded by family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Karl was born December 11, 1957, in Morrison, Illinois, the son of John and Carol Smith. He loved anything outdoors, spending his free time fishing, camping, and playing softball. A devoted sports fan, Karl enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs baseball and Iowa Hawkeyes football.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Smith of Cedar Rapids; son, Jeff (Chelsea) Smith of Dysart, Iowa; daughter, Jessi Gosch of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Quinton Garner of Marion and Braydon Smith, Caedyn Smith & Talyn Corwin, all of Dysart; siblings, Joe (Beth) Smith of Fairfax, Iowa, Steve (Joni) Smith of Des Moines, Iowa, Linda (Gary) Noggle of Robins, Iowa, and Tim (Kris) Smith of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces, great-nieces, and nephews and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Smith.
