Clarence Haverkamp, 84, of Iowa City, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Legacy Ridge.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with Father Gary Beckman celebrating. Respecting Clarence's wishes, his body will be deeded to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program following the service. Visitation will be at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City on Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Community School District Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
Survivors include his children: Anne (Jim) Croker, and their children, Jennifer, Lisa (Chris) Spiek, Jimmy and Andy; John (Kay) Brejcha, and their children, Kelly (Gabe) Thexton and Matt (Rebecca); Michael (Lisa), and their children, Rowan and Laurel; Thomas (Kim), and their children, Joe (Kristen) and Dan (Lisa); and James (Joyce), and their daughter, Sofia; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Martha Haverkamp; and many nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded by his wives, Helen and Dorothy; his sisters, Helen Nelson and Mary Masuen; his sister-in-law, Betty Shay; and his brothers-in-law, Jack Shay and Robert Nelson.
The family would like to thank Legacy Ridge, Legacy Pointe and Iowa City Hospice for the care they gave to Clarence.
