James Lee Hirons, 67, of Marion, went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids,
with visitation one hour before the service.
Jim was born June 20,
1950, the son of Malcolm and Rose (Page) Hirons, in Mount Vernon, Ill. On Feb. 9, 1974, he was married to Karen Brancato in Elgin, Ill. Jim and Karen owned Foot Solutions in Cedar Rapids. Jim believed in the Lord and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. He lived out his faith in many leadership roles with the Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, churches and Kiwanis in the communities where he had lived. He greatly enjoyed fishing and airplanes.
More than anything, Jim loved his wife and family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Hirons; three children, Stacy (Dan) Baker, Michael (Leslie) Hirons and Tom Hirons; six grandchildren, Rebekah, Joanna, Miriam, Annabel, Jacob and Emily; three sisters, Debra (Steve) Mescher, Jill (Robert) Lang and Bonnie (Tony) Jones; sister-in-law, Jean (Lane) Strickland; two brothers-in-law, Chuck (Carol) Brancato and Rusty Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Meda Thompson.
