Mary Sue “Susie” Sorensen, age 73 longtime resident of this area died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Crestview Specialty Care in West Branch.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at St./ Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford with burial to follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery near Oxford. Visitation will be from 12 noon until services on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Susie’s memory to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford or the American Diabetes Association. Susie was born May 9, 1951, in Oxford, the daughter of Peter and Dorothy (Kutcher) Sorensen. She attended schools in Oxford, graduating with the Class of 1969 from Oxford High School. She enjoyed a number of different jobs over the years, working at the Holiday Inn, Measurement Research Center, Rexall Drug, Iowa Wesleyan College, Heartland Express and retiring from the University of Iowa in its IT department in 1997 because of health issues.
Her family includes her siblings, Mike Sorensen, Steve Sorensen (Deb), Jim Sorensen, Chuck Sorensen (Deana), and Diane Sorensen, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Larry and Paul Sorensen.
