Geraldine was born Nov. 12, 1932, in South English, Iowa, the daughter of Layman and Marjorie (Baughman) Coble. She was united in marriage to Arthur Taschner on Oct. 20, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Gerry met her husband, Arthur, while working at Rockwell Collins, following her graduation from high school. They spent many nights at Danceland during their courtship and marriage. After the birth of her children, she left Rockwell Collins and enjoyed creating arts and crafts for friends and family, including many of the banners used at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. She was the co-founder of the annual Atkins Christmas Bazaar and was known for her jewelry Christmas trees. Her love of family gatherings and tending her gardens and flowers were her favorites.
Her memory will be cherished by her children, Rhonda Taschner of Cedar Rapids and Dennis Taschner of Atkins; her two sisters, Connie (Larry) Baumert of Marion and Mary DeWitt of Washington, Iowa; sister-in-law, Arlene Taschner of Keystone; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Arthur, on Feb. 2, 2016.
