Elsie Drahovzal, 103, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017. Elsie lived in Cedar Rapids all but her last nine months, which were spent in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Please join us in celebrating Elsie's life on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Mel Ramos officiating. We will remember our wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, choir director, Czech school teacher and great- (and great-great!) grandmother with a short service, Czech music, kolaches and sweet memories of an extraordinary life, well lived.
A private inurnment will take place at Czech National Cemetery following the service and reception. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Carol (Larry) Sipe of Benson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Bret Sipe of Vail, Ariz., Kristine (Kenny) McMinimy of Benson, Jill (Steve) Brimeyer of Ankeny, Iowa, and David (Jessi) Funcke of DeKalb, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vaclav and Kristina Volak; husband, Benjamin; sisters, Libbie Vig and Vlasta Kopecky; grandson, Brook Sipe; great-great-granddaughter, Zoe Sipe; daughter, Marcia Funcke; and son-in-law, Jack Funcke.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church or the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library.
