One person died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday near Brighton in Washington County, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash happened about 4 p.m. Saturday when a 1999 Toyota Camry drove off the road on Highway 78, just west of Toadflax Boulevard. The driver failed to negotiate a curve on the highway, and the car lost control and rolled several times in the ditch.
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car, died, the patrol’s crash report said. A passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with non-life threatening injuries.
The patrol has not released the identities of the driver or the passenger.
