Robert (69) and Janice (67) Richmond, Jr. were found deceased in their home in Springville on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Private family services will be held at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa with interment in the Norwich Cemetery, Martelle. A public visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the Goettsch Funeral Home. Janice Colleen Warthen, daughter of Charles Wray and Gladys Allen Warthen, was born November 17, 1957 in Anamosa, Iowa. She graduated from Anamosa High School in 1976. She married Dennis Kray in October of 1977 and from their union their three children were born. Jan was a bus driver for the Linn Mar Community School District for many years. While Jan enjoyed many things, she was especially fond of birthday dinners at Bluff Lake, collecting purses and soaking up the sunshine in Florida.
Robert Lee Richmond Jr., son of Robert Sr. and Mildred McGinn Richmond, was born October 11, 1955 in Sumner, Iowa. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1974. He graduated from the Hawkeye Tech Automotive program and worked as a mechanic for a brief time. Robert spent over 40 years working for Cramer Brothers Bridge Company and retired from there in 2014. Robert was a Harley guy and later transitioned to Corvettes and Camaros.
Bob and Jan were married in 1993 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Bob and Jan shared a mutual love of camping, traveling to Disney World, photography and playing cards with family. Their second home had become Airport National Golf Course as they spent many hours there perfecting their golf game and spending time together.
Left to cherish their memory are Janice’s children, Natasha (Ross) Miller, Heidi (Matt) Camp, Danial Kray (Deanne Drummy); grandchildren, Tristan, Lexah, Stihl and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jamison, Sterling; Janice’s siblings, Janet (Dick) Lynott, Judy Walker, Jerrie Osterkamp, Dewayne (Pam) Warthen, Allan Warthen; Robert’s siblings, Linda (Lyle) Timm, Trish Prokop, Rick Richmond; and many nieces and nephews on both sides of their family.
They were preceded in death by Janice’s parents, Robert’s parents, Janice’s sisters, Jean Schlemmer, Joanne Warthen, Joyce Warthen, and Joy Merfeld; brother, Ron Warthen; sister-in-law, Marilyn Warthen; brother-in-law’s, Steve Jenkins, Keith Schlemmer, Ernie Osterkamp.
