Vivian "Bid" Ham, 79, of Manchester, formerly of Earlville, passed away after
a long illness surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at
Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville. Funeral services:
11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5,
at First Lutheran Church, Manchester, by the Rev. Tony D. Ede. Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Earlville.
Bid was born May 29, 1938, in Earlville, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Scovel) Hackbarth. She graduated from Earlville High School in 1955. On Sept. 20, 1958, she married Ervin M. Ham at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville. Bid worked at Wellman Produce, cleaned the Earlville Post Office, Earlville Locker and the Good Neighbor Home as a dietary aide.
She was a longstanding member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville and a current member of First Lutheran Church in Manchester and the EOT Club.
Bid was a loving wife, and her family was very special to her.
Bid is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ervin Ham; two daughters, Connie (Jim) O'Connell and Elaine Diesburg; grandchildren, Hilary (Ross) Berning, Tim O'Connell (special friend Staci), Erin (Tony) Schilling and Danielle Diesburg (Keith Kluesner); great-grandchildren, Colin, Nolan and Simon Berning, Mia O'Connell and Dallas Schilling; a sister, Alice Hunt; and many nieces and nephews.
Bid was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Maynard and Beulah Ham; and brothers-in-law, Everett Hunt and Marvin Ham.
The family would like to thank Dr. Whalen and staff at Tri-State Dialysis, Manchester, and the staff at Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
