Mason was born on September 29, 1995, in Des Moines to Janice Coleman and Mark McCune. He grew up in Des Moines and the family moved to Cedar Rapids during the summer of 2002. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School before attending the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting and Business Analytics.
Mason worked for RSM in Des Moines as a Data Analytical Business Intelligence Senior Associate. He enjoyed his life in Des Moines, experiencing all there was to offer in the metro area. He had a wonderful and supportive group of friends who will miss him dearly.
Through Scouts, School, and Family, he experienced different parts of the world and traveled to countries such as Peru, Norway, China as well as Alaska. One of Mason's recent travels was successfully completing RAGBRAI with his friends in 2023. Mason earned his Eagle Scout award in 2010 as well as the Ranger Award by participating in Troop 766 and Venture Crew 2000.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond and Betty Coleman, and Leonard McCune; cousin Ian McFate; and uncle Allen Coleman.
Mason is survived by his parents, Janice (Dan) and Mark (Teresa); brother Michael McCune; grandmother Barbara McCune; aunts and uncles, Ann Brau, Jean Coleman, Theresa Coleman-Kaiser, Steve Coleman, Ellen Moran, Christine McFate, Deborah Rassler, their partners; and dozens of cousins and extended family.
A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Saturday, November 30 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. with a luncheon to follow at the Cedar Memorial Family Center. Memorial donations can be made to the University of Iowa Center for Advancement directed to the Tippie College of Business.
