Police say the teen fled a traffic stop and led officers on a chase

CEDAR RAPIDS — A 15-year-old was arrested Saturday night after crashing a stolen car into a house in southeast Cedar Rapids while fleeing from officers, according to the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
The chase started shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday when police officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the car. The driver, identified only as a 15-year-old male, tried to elude police. The officers recognized the car as one recently reported stolen.
At about 10:01 p.m., the driver crashed the car into a home in the 2100 block of Bever Avenue SE, causing significant damage to the house and the car. He tried to run but quickly was caught by police officers, according to the department.
The teen was arrested and charged with second-degree felony theft, felony eluding, speeding, failure to maintain control, failure to provide proof of insurance and interference with official acts, causing minor injury.
