CEDAR RAPIDS — Horizons Family Services, a nonprofit that offers Meals on Wheels, neighborhood transportation and other services, has announced a new president and chief executive officer.
Katie Oatsvall started her new position Nov. 11 with the Cedar Rapids nonprofit. She previously worked as CEO of Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa in Oklahoma, and has held positions with other nonprofit organizations, according to a Horizons news release.
She takes over from Mike Barnhart, who announced earlier this year plans to retire in November after spending the past three decades building a career serving others in Eastern Iowa.
Oatsvall has a master’s of public administration from DeVry University and a bachelor’s from Concordia University, with additional certifications from the University of Wisconsin, the University of Houston and Johns Hopkins University.
“We are thrilled to welcome Katie as our new CEO, following an extensive search process. Katie is an energetic, values-driven leader with experience in Meals on Wheels, transportation, and financial wellness,” Horizons board of directors Chair Adam Conzemius said in a statement. “She has a proven track record of delivering results in the nonprofit sector and brings exceptional leadership and strategic skills that will drive our long-term growth and help shape stronger, more vibrant communities.”
