Raymond J. Schirmer, 72, of Englewood, Florida, died Monday, November 11, 2024. In agreement with Ray's wishes, cremation has taken place. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A visitation will be held from 2 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Ray was born on February 22, 1952, in Manchester, Iowa, to Louis and Marie Ann (Barker) Schirmer. A graduate of West Delaware High School, he went on to earn his degree from the University of Dubuque. On May 24, 1975, Ray married Vicki Lynn Kaszubski, in Dubuque, Iowa. His banking career spanned 28 years, concluding in 2002 at Union Bank and Trust in Strawberry Point, Iowa. After early retirement, Ray embraced the Florida lifestyle, spending two decades enjoying golf, boating, and occasionally being dragged along to Walt Disney World!
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Vicki Schirmer of Englewood, Florida; children, Jared (Joy) Schirmer of Tama, Iowa, Jennifer Schirmer of Champions Gate, Florida, and Sarah (Nick) Getchell of Winter Garden, Florida; and grandsons, Holden Schirmer, Max Schirmer, Emmet Schirmer, Jenson Schirmer, and Carver Getchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marie Ann Schirmer.
