Sharon K. Sweeney, 56, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at her home in Iowa City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City, where a rosary will begin at 3:45 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m.
Instead of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Sharon Sweeney memorial fund.
Survivors include brothers, Joe (Margie) Sweeney of Pueblo West, Colo., and Jim Sweeney of Iowa City; a sister, Donna Kelley of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Sweeney of North Liberty; and the joy of her life, 12 nieces and nephews, 18 great-nieces and nephews and two great-great-nieces.
Those who preceded her in death were her parents; a sister, Mary Ann; a brother, Dan; a brother-in-law, Ed Kelley; and a sister-in-law, Sue Sweeney.
