Cedar Rapids
Marlene A. (Proud) King, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away, November 16, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM, Friday, November 22, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marlene was born on February 18, 1936, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Rolland W. and Beatrice H.C. (Thielen) Proud. She graduated from Lyons High School. Marlene was united in marriage to Edward A. King on January 28, 1956. Marlene had come to Cedar Rapids to attend Beauty School and met Edward during that same time. She will be remembered for always putting her family first and how she cherished the time they spent together. Marlene was always very proud of her children and their accomplishments.
Survivors include her children, Rhonda (Darrell Morrison) King-Morrison, of Cedar Rapids, Jyl (Jeremy Greco) King of Cedar Rapids, and Blain (Kristi) King of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren Leanne Hernandez, Adam Leslie, Kelsey King, and Caleb King; great-granddaughter, Josie Ambrose; brother, Jim (Linda) Proud of Clinton; sister-in-law, Betty King; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Olivia Newton-John.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Edward in 2019; and sisters, Beverly Peters, Lois Housenga, and Cheryl Hesse.
