CEDAR RAPIDS — A driver is dead after a single-vehicle crash Sunday night in southwest Cedar Rapids, according to police.
Cedar Rapids police responded about 5:30 p.m. to a crash at 2665 Old River Rd. SW. The driver of the crashed car, James Jones, 75, was found unresponsive and bleeding from the head, a police news release said. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Area Ambulance and the Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded to help with medical treatment, but Jones was pronounced dead a few hours later, according to the release.
The crash still is under investigation. Power lines were knocked down in the crash, and power and gas companies were still on-scene late Sunday.
