RUTH AMANDA (BALVANZ) BRADY

Ruth Amanda (Balvanz) Brady of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017.
She was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Hardin County, Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Pauline Hansen Balvanz. After her mother passed away in 1938, she made her home with her maternal grandmother, Martha Hansen, in Eldora. She attended country schools and Eldora Public School, graduating from Eldora High School in 1941. Ruth was employed at Service Printing in Eldora.
On June 20, 1953, she was married to Wilford Brady in Eldora and the family, including Wilford's daughter, Susie, and his father, John, moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to make their home. Ruth was employed at the Cedar Rapids Board of Realtors office and Frank B. Hall Insurance. She retired from Frank B. Hall after 23 years of service.
She is survived by her beloved stepdaughter, Susie (Bill) Barvinek; two grandsons, Todd Barvinek of Pecos, N.M., and Brad (Beth) Barvinek of Cedar Rapids; one great-granddaughter, Cara (Ryan) Core of Cedar Rapids, and their children, Avery and Kinley; two great-grandsons, Baylor and Andrew Barvinek of Orland Park, Ill.; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Colton and Olivia Schmidt of Cedar Rapids.
We would like to thank the people at Silver Pines, Higley Mansion, Hallmar and Hospice of Mercy for the excellent care Ruth received.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Eldora Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Wilford. Pastor David Splett of St. Paul's Lutheran Church will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
