Jake Swanson
MASTER JAKE C. SWANSON
Cedar Rapids
Master Jake C. Swanson passed away Nov. 26, 2017, in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Jake was born Feb. 27, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Jack and Jody (Boller) Swanson. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School in 1998.
Following his deep passion for martial arts, he would eventually become owner of Revolution Martial Arts in Cedar Rapids. Master Swanson dedicated his time and energy to being a strong role model and positive influence for each of his students, developing their minds as much as their martial arts skills.
With each new kick or block taught to his students, Master Swanson passionately instilled self-confidence, perseverance and dedication within his students. His positive attitude and work ethic inspired those who knew him to live a meaningful life and become the best version of themselves.
Master Swanson always made time to help serve his community by volunteering his time and expertise for numerous local charities, with a focus on victims' awareness and self-defense.
Above all, Master Swanson found no greater joy than spending time with his family and friends. His level of devotion and adoration for those closest to him will be dearly missed. His kind and giving spirit will be honored and carried on by all who loved him.
Jake is survived by his parents, Jack Swanson and Jody Swanson; his sisters, Jennifer White and Josey Swanson; and his nephews and niece, Thomas, Branden, Jameson, Dawsyn and Bode.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Master Jake Swanson memorial fund, c/o NXT Bank, 327 Oakbrook Dr., Marion, IA 52302.
