What to know: It’s Iowa’s first televised game of the season, and it’s against a South Dakota team that has defeated the same two teams Iowa has beaten, Texas A&M-Commerce and Southern University.
The Coyotes’ average winning margin against those two foes was 11 points, while Iowa’s was 18.5.
Both teams have brothers who are key players. South Dakota’s Isaac and Paul Bruns average 12.0 and 10.7 points, respectively. Iowa’s Payton and Pryce Sandfort are Iowa’s top two scorers with 18.5 and 17.5 points per game, respectively. Both sets of brothers are a senior and a sophomore.
Among all forwards in the nation, Payton Sandfort ranks second in assists with 7.0 per game.
Cameron Fens, a 7-foot transfer from Illinois-Chicago, is a junior from Dubuque who averages 9.7 points. He was a first-team all-state player at Hempstead High.
