Charles H. Chapman Jr., 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at Cottage Grove Place. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sons, Alan (Kate) and Craig (Buck), all of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Mark, Anne and Adam; and two great-grandchildren, Mia and Alli.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary; and two sisters, Adeline and Maxine.
Charles was born March 17, 1924, in Eddyville, the son of Charles and Sadie Grove Chapman Sr. He married Mary C. Abernathy on Oct. 25, 1944, in Cedar Rapids. Mary passed away in 2011. He later married Betty Sacora on Feb. 14, 2015, in Cedar Rapids.
Charles worked at Iowa Manufacturing and retired from there in 1986 after more than 42 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, playing as well as watching golf, and traveling to all 50 states. Charles will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
