David Barrett, 69, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Per David’s wishes, Funeral Services and Burial will occur in Lima, Peru.
David was born February 6, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son to Kenneth and Joyce (Simmer) Barrett. While working in Lima, Peru, he met the love of his life and was united in marriage to Maria Elena Lojas Salgado on December 27, 2014, in Lima.
David is survived by his wife Maria Elena Lojas Salgado de Barrett and family in Peru; siblings, Dennis Barrett, Judy (Larry) Myers, and Kathy (Brian) Holmes; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Laurie Barrett, father-in-law Carlos Lojas Yacila, brother-in-law Carlos Enrique Lojas Salgado.
