Steven H. Axmear died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at his home near North English at the age of 67 years.
He was born March 3, 1950, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Kenneth Eugene and Joan Corine (Herdliska) Axmear. He graduated from
Tri-County High School in 1968. On Oct. 6, 1972, Steve was united in marriage to Marvel Ann McCallister, and together they farmed in the North English area. He enjoyed playing cards and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Marvel of North English; three children, Corby (Tonya) Axmear of North English, Connie (Preston) Young of Montezuma and Steven (Stacy) Axmear of North English; 11 grandchildren, Austin Axmear, Katelynn (fiance, Brody Barthelman) Axmear, Brittany (Kyle Hamilton) Bender, Zachary Axmear, Isaiah Bender, Jordon Bender, Kennedy Axmear, Macy Young, Kayl Young, Kane Axmear and Kinnick Axmear; two sisters, Carolyn (Deuce) Heying of Calmar and Deanna (Doug) Valley of Still Water, Okla.; and a brother, Fred (Patty) Axmear of Decorah.
He was preceded by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Robert Axmear.
Celebration of Life services will be at noon Saturday, Dec. 23, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in South English Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to service time.
Memorials may be given to English Valleys Citizens' Scholarship Foundation-Ag Scholarship.
