ALICE NUNEMAKER
Cedar Rapids
Alice Nunemaker, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at ManorCare Health Services. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home.
Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m.
Alice is survived by her children, Mary (Tony) Randall of Greenville, S.C., Ron (Kris) and Ken (Shelly) Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids, Connie (David) Carver of Marion, Vance (Terri) Nunemaker of Ely and Janice (Mike) Hanks and Dan (Penny) Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Dee Nunemaker of Springville; 62 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Bonnie) Weltz of Anamosa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; son, Ted Jr.; and brother, Jack Weltz.
Alice was born Nov. 17, 1926, daughter of John and Mary Stramel Weltz, in Hays, Kan. She met Theodore "Ted" Nunemaker, the love of her life, at Haldy's Beauty and Barber Supply, and married him on Feb. 15, 1947, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
Alice was a dedicated wife and loving mother and homemaker who cherished the time she spent with family and friends.
Alice enjoyed watching butterflies, birds and cardinals, and loved listening to her husband and kids sing karaoke and Christmas songs. Family holiday gatherings, especially Christmas, always were memorable, and a long-standing tradition that has carried on in her and Theodore's fashion every year.
Alice raised their eight children to always be honest, compassionate, kind, giving and strong in family values, and to approach life with integrity.
She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
