Lucas Wayne Shemwell, 37, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away while passing out treats to trick-or-treaters on October 31, 2024. Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa.
Lucas was born on November 19, 1986, in Tucson, Arizona, the son of Daniel and Kathleen (McCann) Shemwell. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. He worked for the City of Cedar Rapids in the Department of Parks and Forestry. Lucas spent his time trap shooting, playing video games, and trying local pizza places. He was an avid bicyclist, biking to and from work daily. Lucas loved playing the guitar and spending time with his two cats, Peanut and S’more. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lucas is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, Dan and Kath Shemwell of Central City, Iowa; sister, Caite Shemwell of Marion; and paternal grandmother, Martha Jane Shemwell of Camden, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.
