DAREL NOAH "NUTZY" WIELAND

Darel Noah "Nutzy" Wieland, 81, of Oxford, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at his home following a battle with melanoma. Private family services will be held with burial at the Lone Tree Cemetery.
The family requests no flowers or plants. Memorials may be directed to the Darel N. Wieland Memorial Fund
or Iowa City Hospice. (Memorials may be sent to
the family at their respective homes). Lensing Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
Born July 27, 1936, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Noah and Ruth (Stolley) Wieland, Darel grew up in Lone Tree, where he was a 1955 graduate of Lone Tree High School. He served in the U.S. Army for three years.
Darel met and married Carilyn Yedlik on June 28, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was an appliance serviceman for Slager Appliance in Iowa City for 51 years, working until October of this year. Darel was a master handyman, always tinkering. Darel would fine-tune whatever it was the factory turned out, " because they never quite got it right!"
Survivors include his wife, Carilyn of Oxford; children, Kevin (Robyn) Wieland of North Liberty, Gary (Michelle) Wieland of Oxford and Pauline (Rodney) Plowman of North Liberty; grandchildren, Chad (Kelly) Wieland, Holly (Andrew) Poggenpohl, Krista Wieland, Ashley (James) Duree, Corey Wieland-Davenport and Danica Wieland-Plowman; great-grandchildren, Noah Wieland, Grayson and Garrett Poggenpohl, Ashton, Jamie and Jamison Duree; his sister, Geneva Wieland of North Liberty; his brother, Dale (Imy) Wieland of Osceola; his brother-in-law, Paul (Mary Lou) Yedlik of Lone Tree; and several nieces and nephews.
Darel was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry "T" Wieland; his sister, Jean, and brother-in-law, George Everhart; and two nieces.
