Beverly Jean (Meyer) Megan, a resident of Colonial Manor of the Amanas, passed away on October 26, 2024, at the age of 81.
Bev was born a beloved daughter to parents Alice (Buline) Meyer and Harold Meyer. She was raised alongside her two sisters Mary (Meyer) Schneider and Pamela (Meyer) Guyer, and her brother Harold “Bil” Meyer. They spent their childhood on a farm in West Liberty before moving to Iowa City.
After finishing high school, she wed her first husband, Charles Probst. They had two children, Michael Probst and Michelle (Probst) Hartsock and journeyed extensively throughout the Mid-West together.
Following her divorce, she returned home to Iowa City and embarked on a career in office management. She enhanced her credentials by earning her real estate license and spent several years working as a Realtor in the Iowa City region. Later in life, she took great pride in having written the book “My Shiny Little Red Heart”.
Bev found her soulmate, David Megan, through mutual friends, and after dating for several years, they married. Bev and David created a blended family that included David’s children: Christy Megan, Aaron Megan, Sean Megan and Ryan Megan. Sadly, David passed away before Bev in 2020.
Above all, Bev took immense pride in her numerous grandchildren, family and friends. In her later years, she cherished the countless hours spent baking cookies and creating special memories with them.
Graveside services will take place on Friday, November 15, at 11 am at Lone Tree Cemetery, led by Lensing Funeral Home. After the services, there will be an offsite gathering at Carlos O’Kelley’s in Iowa City for those who wish to join in celebrating Bev's life.
