Rebecca Rae Karr, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 30, 2024. A visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Becky was born December 20, 1943, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Vina (Gilbreaith) Hahn. She graduated from Jefferson High School with the Class of 1961 and went on to attend Paris Beauty School. Becky married David Karr on April 4, 1962; the couple later divorced. She owned her own two salons, Becky’s Fashionette, and later owned and operated Karr Trucking.
Becky was a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and actively involved in the community through the Elks Lodge where she was a past Exalted Ruler, Cedar Rapids Moose Lodge where she was a respected Past Senior Regent, and Cedar Rapids Eagles. Becky was a past member of the Cedar Boat Club where she served as Commodore. She enjoyed shopping, socializing, cooking, and cherished time spent with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Robyn (Dennis) Whiting of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Hagenow, Kylie Hagenow, and Alex Gibson; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Skyler, and Sylas Hagenow; son-in-law, Brian (Renae) Gibson; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Vina Hahn; daughter, Jill Gibson; sisters, Shirley Hull and Janet Donels; special friend, J.D. Shaddox; and former husband, David Karr.
